Supertrader — Building a Trading Web Platform from Scratch

Replaced a legacy UI with a new React/Next.js frontend, role-based admin panel, and a Flask REST API with rate limiting.

HeadlineNew web platform

// overview

Supertrader is a Germany-based trading platform. I joined as Web Team Lead in March 2025 and rebuilt the company's web surface area: a new React/Next.js customer frontend, a role-based admin panel, and a Flask REST API with rate limiting and structured logging.

// context

The legacy UI was hard to extend, didn't support modern role-based access, and the backend didn't have any rate limiting — a risk for any trading product. There was no shared frontend architecture, so every new feature started from scratch.

// 01 — New customer frontend

Built the company's new React/Next.js customer-facing frontend from scratch — server-rendered for SEO and time-to-content, with a clean component model and shared design system.

// 02 — Role-based admin panel

Designed and shipped a separate role-based admin panel on the same frontend stack. Permissions flow from the Flask API down to route guards and UI affordances.

// 03 — Flask API hardening

Designed and developed RESTful APIs in Flask with rate limiting, structured logging, and caching — improved response performance and system reliability across the platform.

// 04 — Team lead

Leading web engineering efforts across mobile and web platforms, overseeing both the API and the frontend work and coordinating with product and design.
